This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in Huron, CA a high poverty community. Our students are all English Language Learners, receive free lunch, and have parents who work in agriculture fields.

Huron, CA is one of the most highly disadvantaged communities in California and according to the U.S.

Census, Huron is one of the top four poorest communities in the state. The U.S. Census also states that "three-quarters of residents older than 25 don't have a high school diploma."

Based on these facts, I am determined to provide my students with the best education that I can.

My Project

My students are in great need of a reliable pencil sharpener. As we continue to hold high expectations for our students in the classroom, our students need the necessary tools to succeed.

Having a reliable pencil sharpener and pencils available for my students, will eliminate the burden upon my students worrying about bringing those supplies to class on a daily basis.

As I have previously mentioned, my students live in a high poverty community with limited resources available.

My job as an educator is to give my students the essential materials to succeed without them worrying about the supplies they need.
