My Students

Imagine: With more than 20 students in your classroom, you are frequently being interrupted to sharpen pencils for students.

My students are Kindergartners with wonderful imaginations!

They are excited to read and write. Our school district has a high poverty level, and some students have had little or no exposure to literacy at home, which sets them up for failure academically. Every year brings new challenges and new rewards while teaching these young minds. With lack of state funding still being an enormous issue, it is almost impossible to have the materials necessary for daily success.

My Project

My students need two electric pencil sharpeners that will allow students to independently sharpen their pencils without disrupting class. With the aid of electric pencil sharpeners, I will be able to allow students to independently sharpen their own writing utensils. Two sharpeners will be a huge time saver for kids, so they can spend more time putting their thoughts on paper instead of waiting in line. This will, in turn, give me more time to attend to the writing needs of my students.

By helping to fund my project, you will be assisting students to be very productive in their literacy skills.

By saving time sharpening pencils, my students will have the opportunity to devote more time to becoming flourishing writers. Pencil sharpeners, though they are basic office supplies, will have a tremendous impact on the future success of my students.
