This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"Our school is a great place. Teachers teach. Students learn. We succeed because we read. We are the home to the best kiddos in town." We live by our school motto. We recite it daily. We believe it!

Our students are the hardest workers, and they are hungry to learn.

We are focused on learning and we strive to see results. We are in the lowest socioeconomic part of our city. We aim to meet students basic needs every day before learning can take place.

My Project

The campus in which I work on is one that is in great need of basic necessities. Our children come to school with little to no school supplies. There are no pencils. There are no pencil sharpeners. Students fight for long pencils and those with an eraser. They spend valuable time scrambling for sharpened pencils rather than focusing on the material being taught or the task that lies ahead.

If these supplies were readily available through out the campus, we could focus on sharpening our minds rather than sharpening pencils.

Imagine the magic that would happen if our students had an unlimited supply of sharpened pencils!
