Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a wonderful group of first graders in a Title I school. While they are excited to come to school and eager to learn, my students are faced with a tremendous amount of adversity. Since we are located in a high crime and high poverty area, my students and their families are faced with many challenges.
It is often difficult for my students to keep up with the high demands of school with a lack of support at home.
It is at school, however, that they get to experience and explore the wonderful world of education while in a safe and loving environment. Their love of learning is inspiring!
My Project
After almost 100 days of learning and hard work, our supplies are beginning to fall apart! Our folders are ripped, our pencil sharpener is broken, and our erasers are totally gone.
We need some serious supply assistance!
We would greatly appreciate a new, electronic pencil sharpener, pencil-top erasers, and folders. Believe it or not, these basics are really important to have in our classroom in order to keep things running smoothly and allow education to be the main focus. It is very easy to get distracted and waste time throughout the day when we lack classroom basics such as erasers, pencil sharpeners, and folders to keep organized.
