My students need a brand new "quality" pencil sharpener to meet their needs. 32 students in my class and being able to sharpen pencils will make life much simpler.
I am blessed to be in a career that I truly love. I am passionate about my profession. This is my 12th year teaching and have seen tremendous changes. One of the changes includes having 32 students in my classroom. One of the daily stressors I face is students needing to sharpen their pencils.
I am blessed to work for a wonderful elementary school.
My students are lucky to go to a school where the weather is nice the majority of the school year (California) and a place they can call home. One of the changes I have seen in my classes is the many different ethnicity's which makes teaching more enjoyable. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn a lot about one another.
My Project
In two words I can describe how much a brand new pencil sharpener would change my classroom: "Life Saver." I have a pencil sharpener that I purchased with my own money but it is not as great of a quality as this one I am requesting. With 32 students trying to sharpen pencils, I can't begin to explain how frustrating it is when it overheats. What is nice about receiving a donation such as this is that with it being better quality I will have it for many years ahead. I teach my students to take care of things and this will be no exception.
This donation would mean a lot to both my students and me.
It will allow us to be more efficient with time too. I remember about 8 years ago I was in a restaurant and a stranger overheard me talking to my mom about teaching. Out of the blue she handed me 100 dollars to purchase something for my classroom. I bought a swivel chair students get to sit in when they share. To this day I share with all of my classes her generosity and the same goes for Donorschoose. Thank you for considering me.
