My students are amazing! We are a two-time National School of Character, and our students exhibit this every day. Our students lead assemblies, have classroom jobs and leadership roles. They love to learn and connect their learning to the real world.

I am dedicated to finding new ways to get my kids excited about learning. I know that creating lifelong learners is a huge part of my job. By making learning FUN, I can foster a love of learning in my young students.
My Project
I’m sorry to admit that my biggest pet peeve in the classroom is sharpening pencils. Did you know electric pencil sharpeners break the tips off of all pencils? So when you go to sharpen a pencil, you can sharpen it to a nub and it’s still not sharpened! Or that students can’t sharpen their own on a sharpener because they don’t know how to push it in? Or that once they sit there for 5 minutes trying to sharpen their pencil the motor dies? Or that once one kiddo wants to sharpen all 22 kiddos are then standing in line wanting to sharpen theirs too? Or that the electric sharpener is SO loud that students can’t hear your lesson once someone decides to sharpen their pencil?
My students need individual sharpeners that have screw on lids.
Please save my teacher sanity and donate to provide my students their own individual sharpeners. I tried the cheaper ones and the kiddos loose them and they break the first time they use them. Thank you for listening to my crazy pencil sharpener rant. I hope we get some new sharpeners ASAP, because the electric sharpener is going in the trash on Monday.
