My students need two durable and reliable pencil sharpeners, erasers and modeling dough in order to express themselves in multiple ways during my Reading Intervention Groups.
My students are working hard to learn basic reading skills. They learn best by being able to use different materials to learn and to show what they have learned.

Our school is our districts first STEAM elementary school.
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) is essentially science and technology interpreted through engineering and the arts, all based in mathematical elements. First grade was just added to the building, joining our Kindergarteners. Our students are active children who are being encouraged to observe like scientists, ask questions like scientists, test and record their ideas, build like engineers, solve problems as well as to think about and share what they have learned with others. Our STEAM program is in its beginning stages!
My Project
My students learn best in many different ways. They need a sturdy, reliable pencil sharpener and erasers for their pencils, ink pads for those who learn best by stamping letters and words, and modeling clay in order to form letters and words.
My students will use these items to learn letters, letter sounds, rhyming activities, and other basic reading concepts. They will be able to use their preferred means of learning and explore new ones - we will use paper and pencil activities and also use letter stamps to explore beginning, middle and ending sounds in words and my tactile students will love to use the modeling clay!
Your donation to my project will improve my classroom by giving my students multiple ways to express themselves, meeting the needs of many different learning styles.
Whether it is by paper and pencil, stamping letters and words or forming them with modeling dough, my students will be on their way to becoming readers!
