This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am replicating the "Shark Tank!: Entrepreneurship with New-to-Country Students" project. My students are innovative & creative. Now it is time become financially literate entrepreneurs!

There are 2300+ students in our high school.

It is a Title I school. I teach students from a variety of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. Some live in single parent homes, some in traditional families, some in military families, some are immigrants and some are from families that have been here for generations. The students in my Digital Art classes are dedicated to their art. They create interesting designs, drawings, animations, and paintings with traditional materials as well as using various software programs. My Digital Art Club students work hard. I would like help them achieve their goals by teaching them financial literacy and entrepreneurship. They can begin doing this by running their own art business.

My Project

My Digital Art Club students have the opportunity to run their own artist table at a local convention. To decide which students will have their work displayed, we will hold a “Shark Tank” style contest. The students will be able to work in teams or independently. The students will be given the art supplies (iPad/pen and traditional art supplies) needed to create their designs. When the students run their artist table, they will be given a calculator and a cash box. The students will also have to track their expenses and their profits.

Many of the Digital Art Club students want to become working artists.

This will give them the opportunity to do just such a thing. As their teacher, it is my responsibility to help realize this goal. Your donation to our project will help the Digital Art Club students really get their business going. They will be able to learn the ins and outs of running a business and have the supplies to make it happen!
