Mr. Williams from Columbus GA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need books with songs to sing and games to play. They love singing and moving to music and they would love some cool new songs and song stories to learn.

Our students love singing and playing musical instruments and they also enjoy play-acting, dancing, moving to music and hearing stories. Our project is to get several books with actions songs and stories to help get our kids even more excited about music education.
We have about 520 students attending our school, which is a low-income school with 100 percent of our kids in the federal free lunch program.
We have many students with learning disabilities who benefit from the study of music and the arts in school. All of our kids enjoy music class and they love learning everything they can about playing instruments, singing, dancing, musical form, composers, and even classical music. I see kids every day who come into my class with frowns on their faces because of an argument with another kid or something that happened at home and they leave smiling from all of the fun and active learning going on in our room.
I teach using lots of echoing with call and response songs and old fun folk songs. The funnier and the more movement involved, the better it is for our class. A lot of kids these days don't really develop good singing voices because they don't spend a lot of time singing along to the radio or CD's anymore. I'm really focused on getting my students to sing in tune with each other and we spend a lot of time working on our ears and our voices. The books we requested will help them to develop a good musical ear and will feature the added bonus of motivating them to sing. I've also requested some xylophone mallets, because we have several pairs that are worn out or broken and need replacements.
How do you create a love of reading in children?
You read to them and have them read with you and to you, of course. How do you instill a love of music and singing in children. You sing to them, share your favorite music with them, sing with them and share musical stories with them. This is what your donation will do. You will be sharing the love of music with these children and hopefully, many of them will go on to share the gift of music with others throughout their lives.
You donate directly to the teacher or project you care about and see where every dollar you give goes.
