This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a highly diverse group of students in many areas. They are both ethnically and socioeconomically diverse. They are a curious group of students who also show a diversity in their views, as well as their learning styles.
Our school thrives on honoring the individuality of each student and valuing what they bring to our school community.
Students are encouraged to be independent, critical thinkers and to learn more about the world around them through books, magazines, technology, and each other.
My Project
My students are busy researching and becoming experts in the biome of their choice. They are learning all about the key features of that biome, animals that make their habitats in their biomes, and some of the challenges that their biome may be facing.
My students will then take all the information they have collected to teach others about our biomes.
They will be convincing others to visit their biomes, writing informational books about their biomes, and finally creating a story that takes place in their biome that involves their characters facing similar challenges that are present in their biomes and how those characters work to solve that challenge. These stories will be published in the blank hard back books and shared with their families and the school community.
