This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed or teach 21st-century students without a 21st-century technology. I teach math and social studies to a group of 50 low socio-economics students in Irving, TX. The majority of these students are first-generation Americans with English as their second language. Our school serves students in grades K-12 and provides rigorous academics and fantastic teachers. As a result, we are consistently finding unique ways to help out students fulfill their dreams of finishing school and going to college.

My Project

According to the research, English as a second language students benefit immensely from visuals with their lessons. This is why I am requesting for a document reader for my eager learners, so I can model my teaching using interactive worksheets and math manipulatives.

A document reader will allow my students to see my steps in solving math problems for deeper understanding and to have hands-on learning experience by showing their thinking with their classmates.

Due to the language barrier, my students are struggling with math concepts such as word problems. A document reader will allow me to break the problems into chunks and visuals, so the students can comprehend the concept better. Please help my students learn by donating for a classroom projector.
