Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Everyone can become an artist. Every artist needs to display, share and store their artwork in a safe place.
This year I have 30 students in my classroom.
My students are in the early elementary grades. They are eager to learn new things in their new grade level. They are excited about learning to become independent readers. They attend a school with approximately 1000 students. There school is large, yet we are a close knit school.
My Project
I am requesting art portfolios for each student. A safe place to store their Artists' Study. I am hoping students will connect with one of the chosen artists whether it is through the art or the life of the artist. I will be introducing my students to a new artist every month. I have titled it "Art Day." The day will be centered around the life of the artist. We will be learning about the the artist and their art, what type of art was created by the artist, the artists' country, facts about the country, literature from the country and complete an art project using the technique of the artist. Students will gain knowledge about not only the artist but the world that exists outside their school.
Your donations will make my first "Art Day" possible.
This is the first time I will have an "Art Day." This day will give students the opportunity to express themselves through a different medium. The Arts are not to be ignored. Everyone can learn something new with the arts. Through the arts students can learn history, geography and music. I am very excited about this event. The art portfolio will give students a place to showcase their artwork.
