My goal is for all of my students in third grade to meet and exceed the literacy standards of the CCSS by the end of this school year. I hope to create an engaging learning environment for learners to become problem solvers through best practices of instruction.
I have twenty-three students who range in abilities, socio-economic status and ethnicity.
Some come from homes with every advantage, while some students come from homes who are struggling to meet daily needs or who may be in transition. Our school has a strong parent volunteer program.
My Project
We will use these supplemental resources to provide meaningful texts that students can practice English Language Arts skills in Close Reading using complex texts and independent practice where they can transfer and apply the learning. Students will read a variety of genres using multiple reading strategies to construct meaning from text. Also, students will receive daily grammar and language instruction to help them communicate more effectively through writing and speaking.
I am excited to watch students grow in their reading skills, their writing skills, and their speaking skills.
Ultimately, their confidence and love of reading will continue to grow!
