Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Shared reading is a time during our day when my students and I gather on our rug and read together. We use an enlarged text that we all can see easily. My new class of Kindergartners would greatly benefit from new big books and other resources to make this time not only educational, but also enjoyable. Using pointers and highlighting tape we are going to spend our shared reading time discussing our big book stories and internalizing new reading strategies. Thank you for reading this proposal! I hope you feel encouraged to assist me in getting the engaging and instructional tools I need to help our children fall in love with reading!
