My students need a few things to help us during station time: whiteboards to share our answers, and timers to keep track of our reading time in small groups.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." -Martin Luther King, Jr. I want to be able to help my students reach their true potential as adults in our society.
I teach in a Title I school that has over 60% of the students on free and reduced lunch.
I want to engage my students in interesting ways in order to best meet their needs.
My Project
The items I am requesting will help my students during station time. During class, we break into small groups based on student needs. Some students are with me in a small group working on a skill while others are practicing independently.
Allowing me to see student work will help me to better understand any misconceptions they may have.
The whiteboards will be used to allow students to write their own answers down and then share them with the group. This allows students to formulate their own ideas, and share their thought process.
The timers will allow students to monitor their own progress during independent station time. They can use them to focus their thinking, track their reading time, or keep track of educational games. This will allow them to focus on their own learning more easily.
