My students need books to begin their project of partner reading. The students want to become book buddies with lower grade students. They see the need to share the love of reading with others.
I work with fourth and fifth grade students across all subject areas. We are a tight-knit community. Our school has a rich history of doing for others. My students work hard. My students enjoy reading and working with others. They are very self-motivated and want to work with younger students.
In our classroom, reading is a priority and is valued.
Students know it is the key to growing as a student.
They also recognize the need to be able to set goals for themselves and carry out those goals. We are a personalized learning school, working daily to have the students be the driver of their learning.
My Project
My students want to share the love of reading with the lower grades. They want to begin a project in which they partner up with lower students and do a book club.
They will start in the morning before the first bell to check in and use lunch time to have their "clubs" meet once done with a book.
They thought to start with partners and branching out to more students once they get the hang of it.
The books will help them begin their library. We will now have multiple copies of each book to launch the project. They envision this idea to grow each year.
