My Students

I am so fortunate to teach 7th grade Social Studies. I teach 5 classes a day; one class is an inclusion classroom. My students are at the perfect age to begin to make connections with the topics we study in class and the real world application. We study Civics, the branches of Government, Economics and Geography.

I have a handful of students that constantly ask questions about current events.

I look forward to these questions because it shows me that they are listening and sometimes not accepting what is presented. Also, this benefits the quieter students in the classroom because they might have the same question but are hesitant to participate.

My Project

I have very active 7th graders! I want the students to be able to showcase their work in various formats: visually and tactilely. I allow movement in my classroom and having different stations available helps with my classroom management.

Using our new document camera funded in from a previous project, I am going to set up a station that the students can use to showcase their work and they will be able to sit in this special chair as a privilege.

The students love rewards and this will be a way I can motivate the students.
