I have an energetic group of deaf preschoolers that love coming to school! Each day we complete fine motor activities, centers, snack, calendar, speech therapy, auditory training, academic lessons, independent reading, writing, sensory activities, and a daily message!
I have a wonderful group of 6 deaf/hard of hearing students!
Some of my students travel over an hour in a cab to get to our school and spend all day (8:45-3:15) with me! Our school is an inner city school that houses a program for deaf students grades preschool-5th grade. I have 5 different districts in my classroom out of 6 students. The students love coming to school each day and I see them learning more and using more language everyday! I could not ask for a better group of students!
My Project
Shapes are a very basic subject matter to most, but to preschoolers it is something completely new. As a second year teacher I do not have all the materials I would like to make sure that my students are getting hands on learning each day. I will read a different shape book to them each day and they can look at the shape books in our reading area. They will complete the shape puzzles for fine motor morning activities or for centers. The foam shapes will be for fine motor activities that we can hang in the hallway to show off our work! The shape bean bags will be used for teaching vocabulary and adding in movement. The shape stencils will be used for tracing shapes and beginning to draw our own shapes. The shape games will be for building shape vocabulary and teaching rules to play a game!
I am a second year teacher and want to provide my students with everything they deserve, but money is always an issue.
These donations will help my students better understand shapes by seeing them in books, working with them in puzzles, drawing with them in stencils, and playing with them in games. The more access they have to shapes the better chance they have at learning them!
