I teach kindergarten through eighth-grade physical education and I have 360 students that are part of my classes. My students are excited to learn, move, and enjoy all types of physical activity.
My students are continually developing their fitness level, as well as their appreciation for making healthy choices.
The lessons that my students learn in my classes enable them to live healthy lives in the future, and also to impact others. They are continually working to become amazing leaders that will make a difference in our world. Team building, character education, and responsible decision-making skills are also developed in my classes. My students are always eager to learn and grow.
My Project
Attending a SHAPE America national physical education convention will be inspiring for both me and my students. I will return with new insights and ideas that will transform my physical education program and impact my school and community.
I have been teaching physical education for 25 years, but I always want to continue to learn and grow.
I was named the 2016 Wisconsin Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the year and the 2017 Midwest SHAPE America Teacher of the Year, and I understand that continued learning is the key to being an effective teacher. Physical education offers a platform to impact my students, my school, and my community.
This convention will allow me to learn best practice in physical education to help me continue to provide exciting and inspiring lessons every day for my students. It will also allow me to network and share ideas with professionals from around the country. I will be able to impact others through fitness, teamwork, and leadership. A growth mindset is the key to success!
