Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are the largest urban high school in the district, and we are currently serving over 1800 high school students in grades 9-12. Our school population is 100% free and reduced lunch with a very high English Language Learner (ELL) population.
Our Media Center is the hub of the school.
Students love to come in and read, use the computers, get help with assignments and socialize with classmates. We strive to provide students with an up to date collection that supports and inspires learning.
My Project
We would like to have gamers space available for students. Board games can help build academic and life skills. This area will be filled with tabletop games that the students can check out and play during their lunchtime and before or after school. Teenagers can benefit from board games to improve critical thinking and decision making skills and improve logic and reasoning. Playing games with peers can also help build valuable social skills. Many collaborative games can help kids learn to work together towards a common goal. Many of the games requested can be played in thirty minutes or less. The students will love having this center and we will work on expanding it each year. Help us to make our game center a reality.
