Have you ever hesitated to go to your attic because you were worried about what you would find? I mean, how often do people visit their attic? Imagine dust being everywhere and treasures hidden that you don't even know where to start. Well my students tend to look at what is available to them on the surface and our library books are hidden in old bookshelves. I realized that you can have all the books in the world, but if you don't have the right setup, books just end up collecting dust.
Our school lost funding for a librarian over six years ago and since then I have been determined to create a library space in our classroom that is inviting and fosters a love for reading.
My students need tiered rotating bookshelves that help them quickly see what books are available for checkout in our classroom library. These displays I am requesting will allow my students to turn the bookshelves and have easy access to some of their favorite titles. My students also need new floor seats to help create a comfortable space to read in our library area.
Lastly, my students need some of their favorite requested books which also include books for students in our class that only speak Spanish or Ukrainian. By giving all students options of their interest, this will help create a space that they will never want to leave and that will never leave a trail of dust behind.
