I would love to take my 12th grade English class to see a live performance of "A Winter's Tale" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on November 3rd. We are devoting several weeks of class time on the life and times as well as the writings of William Shakespeare. We will be reading two plays and a selection of sonnets from his works, concentrating on the timeliness of themes and the beautifully unique use of the English language. We are a small Brooklyn alternative high school and to stroll through our neighborhood for a meaningful cultural event would be novel and memorable. After reading and dramatizing a Shakespearean play in class, experiencing a professional performance would be the enhancement of which teachers only dream.
