Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my Title I classroom in Los Angeles are very eager to learn. I have English only speakers and English language learners in my class this year. Many of them come from low income families and most of them receive free lunch. They are very excited to come to school every day.
My students are very inquisitive and eager to learn.
When they enter the classroom the first thing they do is look at the whiteboard to see the schedule of the day and the special activities we will enjoy.
My Project
We are requesting rhythm sticks, activity scarves and wrist ribbons to use for music and dance activities. My students will be able to use the scarves and wrist ribbons to move while they learn. The colorful scarves and ribbons will catch the attention of all of my students and help them learn their colors. We will also integrate music and dance using the scarves and ribbons into all areas of our curriculum.
My students can practice and reinforce their academic skills while having fun and getting exercise.
We will use the scarves and ribbons to count, and also for phonemic awareness activities, the first step towards learning how to read.
