I teach students from many different backgrounds. When I asked my class of 33 seventh grade students how many spoke another language, 15 students raised there hands. Our school district is one of the most diverse in the country. I find it such a privilege to teach in the great state of Alaska where there is an abundance of diversity amount students. This year, I have the opportunity to teach home economics to students. For this reason, I am submitting this project which will make teaching this class possible.
My Project
Sewing skills always come in handy. Imagine the pride students will feel when they are able to sew items that bring joy to others. Junior achievement gives students the chance to show others what they can accomplish. I order to make this happen, we need sewing machines. With sewing machines they will be able to take their creations to the next level. The class also needs different sewing books that will help with understanding sewing concepts, and help spark creativity. I am so excited, as their teacher, to have the chance to teach them this enduring skill in home economics class. I can say from personal experience, as a junior high student, that sewing became very dear to me and it gave me such a deep feeling of accomplishment. I hope to pass this experience on to my students by teaching them how to sew too. Please help make this happen. Thank you!!
