My students need 3 sewing machines to create projects and connect the classroom to skills for life long learning.

I teach in a rural Alaskan native village. I currently teach grades 5-12 all subjects. It is difficult to engage students and to show the relevance of mundane academics.

Several of the students have expressed an interest in learning how to sew. They would like to eventually make quilts and other things that would be appropriate gifts for the elders of the village as is tradition.

To reach the goal of making quilts, lap robes, and bags the students will need sewing machines, fabric, batting and interfacing. This project is an opportunity to merge service learning, academics ,creativity and cultural heritage.

Your donations will make it possible for students to give back to the elders of their community as they learn a skill that will last a lifetime!
