The Daniels Learning Center is rebuilding the future potential of every student with sound educational principles that assist under achieving students in establishing their career goals. The Daniels Learning Center is a place dedicated to improving the academic excellence of students typically viewed as failure. Under the supervision of one of the science teachers, students at the Daniels Learning Center have transformed their thinking and attitude toward a positive image of their ability to learn and respect for others. Science students have converted their classroom into The Living Zone, a "Hands-On" learning environment for the exceptional genius minds at the Daniels Learning Center.
Chemistry, Biology, and Earth Science students will explore the chemical components of domestic sewerage sludge, such as distillation for ammonia, total nitrogen, nitrates, nitrites,biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand,phosphorus, iron, chlorine, fecal coliform, total coliform, and bacteria. Students will gain valuable experience in performing testing in basic chemical parameters used in the waste water industry. Students get the chance to actually carry out chemical experiments performed in waste water laboratories and environmental. Students will experience learning activities and lecture topics used in modern laboratories. Techniques learning during these classes can be directly used as job skills.
