Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a high poverty, low-income area where students struggle daily with life in general. As their teacher, I work hard to help students close educational gaps and achieve to the best of their abilities. For many, school is their escape so I try my hardest to make our classroom a safe space where they feel they can come to get away from daily struggles.
My goal is to help students become more comfortable in our classroom, giving them the opportunity to focus their attention on school-related tasks.
Having materials at school that allow students to access lessons in a meaningful way helps students engage and stay focused on lessons.
My Project
On the evening of Dr. Seuss's birthday, we will be holding a family night at school. Students will be working hard over the coming weeks to Seussify our classroom and hallways.
Students will be researching Dr. Seuss' life and writing research reports to show what they have learned.
The wall decals of his famous saying will remain on our hallway wall for motivation in the remaining months of school.
They will also be reading books by Dr. Seuss and trying to write in his style. The materials for this project will help students create the Seuss land they are imagining.
