Students at our grade 3-5 school love reading! They love nothing more than maxing out their checkouts at the library and visiting before school to see if any of their holds are in. We don't take any of that for granted and are always looking for ways to enrich the library.
Our school is on the midcoast of Maine - similar demographics of the state as a whole, including over 50% of students taking advantage of the free and reduced lunch program.
We are the home of Bath Iron Works, building Navy ships since the 1890s!
My Project
Our school Library is filled with great books and technology, but our furniture is rather...blah, uncomfortable, institutional-drab and not conducive to the type of creating, collaborating, and dreaming we aspire to in the space. Our Library is a special place, and we want to create a great atmosphere to experiment, stretch, and get comfortable! 5th graders are immersed in multimedia technology projects, 3rd graders are exploring and choosing "just right" books on their own, and 4th graders are likely to put their books aside to set up a quick chess game before class is over. Please help us with seating and furniture that will fit all our shapes and sizes, helping us to truly settle in and fly!
