Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege of teaching 1st through 4th grade students in a special education classroom. They come from many different backgrounds and offer a variety of physical, intellectual and social abilities. Our school is dedicated to inclusion of all students as well as meeting their individual needs. Many of my students face unique challenges and they work hard to meet their goals.
These students are capable of making meaningful contributions to our school and community.
In my classroom students learn adaptive and social skills as will as math, reading and writing. Your donation will help these students have what they need to make gains in all areas. Thank you for your consideration and helping make school a positive experience.
My Project
The students in my special education classroom learn best when tasks are short, purposeful and build upon their skills in an individualized way. In our classroom students move with a small group from one learning station to the next. Some stations are teacher directed while some are student directed. Along with academic content, students will be learning self-help skills such as moving to and from stations independently, and keeping some of their own supplies.
My students need whiteboards to engage them in reading, writing and math stations.
Supplies such as a laminator are needed to organize and visually label each of the learning stations. My students require book bins and storage bags to keep them organized when moving throughout stations and engaging in independent learning activities.
White boards and station organization will help set the stage for a learning environment where my students can be successful in both academics and self-help!
