I am a first year special education teacher and am teaching a 4-6 grade self-contained classroom for students with emotional/behavioral disabilities. As a first year teacher I have bought much of my own classroom materials, but I need any help I can get to get to finish setting up my classroom.
My students qualify for special education services because their behaviors are interfering with their own learning and the learning of others in their general education classes.
They may have learning disabilities, ADHD or be on the Autism spectrum, but they all are in my classroom because of their behaviors.
I aim to provide a therapeutic environment using the Re-Education philosophy to help my students learn the in order to feel successful in my classroom and in the community. Most of my students come from low income minority families.
My Project
I am requesting basic classroom materials to help give the students hands-on experiences that will keep them engaged in learning. I am constantly looking for interesting ways to get students to learn. The white boards, for example, will help the students in both math and writing. The students find it exciting to be able to use white boards as opposed to traditional paper and pencil.
The other materials I have selected are to better help the class run smoothly throughout each day. The timers will be used during our transition between activities. The chair storage sacks are to help my students stay organized. Many of them lack organization skills. The chair storage sacks help limit the amount of things they can keep at their desk.
Any donations I receive will be so well received.
I am a first year teacher fresh out of graduate school and am excited to get started. I have already invested a lot of my own money in buying basic classroom needs, so any additional help I can get to finish setting up my classroom will be so gratefully appreciated.
