Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
5th-grade students at our school are excited to learn and come to school every day ready to do their best. Unfortunately, because we are a low-income Title I school these students do not always have the materials and support that they need to be successful in the school setting.
Even though these students do not always have the best resources, they are never heard complaining, instead, it is much more common to hear them cheering each other on with kind words and reminding each other just how special and capable they are!
My Project
My students are in need of some basic school supplies that are not provided by our school or the district. We are in need of dry erase markers, cleaning supplies, and heavy duty paper.
As a way to help students take ownership of their classroom we clean our classroom often, with these cleaning supplies students learn to take pride in our room and stay healthy along the way.
We will be using our dry erase markers almost daily. Students use them during cursive writing time, vocabulary work, math workshop stations, and during math fact drill time. If we do not have these necessary items we have to revert to the less fun and engaging paper and pencil method. These materials also help us to be Earth friendly!
