Without the necessary supplies, I find it difficult to prepare my sixteen-second grade students with the basics of financial literacy, when our district is on such a tight budget.
My students live in a small rural community.
The community is so small that it doesn't even have a grocery store! Likewise, the school budget is limited, and therefore, we cannot purchase supplies beyond our very necessities. This is where we need your help to make a difference in the lives of these students!
My Project
With the Math Sum Board Game, the Osmo Pizza Company Game, and Osmo Creative Set, the students will be motivated to access and solve real-world financial problems in creative ways. Math basics that incorporate money amounts can be practiced and applied by making connections to real-world examples. Students can calculate the cost of materials, the difference in product costs today while applying math, science, and Social Studies. Then the students can use the Osmo Creative Set with the markers and base to share their projects that reinforce their learning. The storage container would be used to organize all the financial literacy tools.
These creative activities will help reinforce money sense in the real world and motivate them to engage in creative financial literacy.
