This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My classroom is full of dynamic potential that is being revealed each day. Although this is so, our resources are low and our need is high as my school is a Title I school. I am a pre-kindergarten teacher to 22 awesome scholars who need tangible learning experiences to broaden their education and explore their world.

Though my goals are high, I am not always able to provide the wide range of manipulatives and equipment that comes with a pre-kindergarten classroom.

My desire is that the different learning styles of my children are met in a positive and creative environment.

My Project

My students have different experiences and interests, but one thing they have in common is their love for learning. My main focus is meeting their learning needs through different modalities.

Each item I've chosen will allow my students to take ownership of their learning.

The Magna-Tiles I've requested will be used for building, estimation, sorting, and counting. The Beginning Operations Folder allows my students to practice one-to-one correspondence, simple addition and subtraction. This will set the stage for future math work. Through your donations, my students will have the ability to spearhead their own learning.

As a pre-kindergarten teacher my goal is to create purposeful, planned and playful experiences that are developmentally appropriate. These materials will enable me to do reach this goal and to have students direct their own learning.
