I am beyond blessed to interact with the young people at my school. They come from all walks of life and each one has his/her own story to tell. I am always amazed at the accomplishments my students complete, especially considering the hurdles that stand in their way.
The young ladies and gentlemen in my classes are my inspiration and the reason I desire the impossible to become possible.
They have beautiful hearts that need encouragement and support. For some of my students, the only stability they receive is at school and the teachers are the only people advocating for them. I love being my students' cheerleader and want them to feel LIMITLESS.
My Project
This is an AVID classroom, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. The students in this program are focused on gaining the skills needed to attend college. They work on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading. In addition to skills, the students create a family atmosphere of honesty, integrity, and support through team building activities.
Having a safe, comfortable atmosphere to break down barriers and to focus on building strong relationships is important.
The lighting will help provide that setting, in which another classroom has already seen the impact of the atmosphere. The books requested bring up difficult content and also reflect the diverse reading of the students. Reading is important for them to engage in during their college journey.
