My students need the money, laminating sheets, journals, number sequencing puzzles, and counting activities to learn about financial literacy.

Wow! I cannot believe that I am almost finished with my fourth year of teaching! Time sure does fly by when you are doing something that you love! I teach kindergarten, and I have such an amazing group of superheroes this year! I have been blessed with such smart, caring, and affectionate students!
My students attend a public Title I school where we serve military and non-military students.
At times, my students may not have what they need, but they come to class excited and eager to learn! My superheroes are unique in their own abilities and what they bring to the classroom! They work together as a team, and together they have tackled the obstacles of learning how to read, write, and add and subtract! I am proud of the leaders that have emerged in my classroom!
I strive to create a classroom that is hands-on, engaging, safe, and fun! I strive to give my superheroes every experience that is at my disposal! They are what push me to be the best teacher that I can be! They have truly left an imprint on my heart!
In kindergarten, I teach the basics of financial literacy. We learn how to count (by ones, fives, and tens), write numbers, compare numbers, and add and subtract. We also begin to talk about money. These Math concepts lay the foundation for financial literacy. The floor number puzzles I am requesting are perfect for learning number sequence (counting in order). The learn to count play doh mats and the number links are perfect for practicing number sense and counting while being fun and engaging. The play food I am requesting will go into the store and my students will get to buy the food during Math centers. I have a real working cash register, which will allow my students to practice addition and subtraction skills. The money and laminating sheets (to protect the money for future use) will be used for the classroom store that I already have in my classroom. My students get an "allowance" weekly, and they are able to go to the store and purchase items. The writing journals I am requesting will allow my students to keep track of their money and how much they have left to spend in the store. The 10 drawer organization cart will help keep all the items I am requesting organized and in one place.
By teaching financial literacy in the classroom, I am preparing my superheroes for the real world that lies ahead of them.
The addition of these materials will help my students have a firm foundation in number sense and financial literacy while making class fun and engaging! My kindergarteners do not have a good sense of money, and my goal is to give them a better understanding of it through real world play. Thank you for taking this journey with me!
