My students are 5- and 6-years-old and love to be on the move all day long. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but they are all full of energy and ready to learn. Our school motto is to show pride in everything we do, and my kids always try their best.
I teach at a STEM school, and my students are ready to explore and learn new things through inquiry and movement each day.
Some of my students are in school for the first time, and they are all so full of energy. As their teacher, I love to take that energy and direct it into meaningful learning activities instead of making them sit still all day.
My Project
My students are still so young and a large majority of them cannot read directions on their own. As a result of that I end up doing a lot of modeling while I teach. Even if I eventually want students to complete work on their own I will model it first. I will be able to do this so much more efficiently and effectively if I can project the actual paper they will be working on onto our whiteboard and complete parts of it with them as a whole group.
As a STEM school we also focus on really digging deep into math instruction which can be greatly enhanced by being able to model math problems with manipulatives for the whole class to see at once.
I currently have to use small groups or hold things up awkwardly if I want to show how to properly use manipulatives but this document camera would change that! Lastly we are asking for a presentation remote that would be used to allow me to move around the room while teaching versus being stuck sitting at my table beside my computer.
