My Students

My 4th-6th grade drama students are responsible and dynamic! They are beyond excited to have a stage for the very first time in their elementary school career! They consistently take creative risks in our school production and are always a positive support to their peers.

My students are compassionate, creative risk-takers!

The drama department services students from all socio-economic, academic, ethnic, gender, LGBTQ, and religious backgrounds. Roughly 25% of our drama students receive special education supports. Our school is very small (only 364 students, and nestled right in the middle of a neighborhood. Most of our students walk to school and go to our school from kindergarten through 6th grade. It is truly a community. They put themselves out there every year to put on a fully staged production for the entire school to enjoy. They work together, and independently to memorize lines and stage direction, and celebrate each others' success! They are welcoming to EVERYBODY! I love their sense of humor, their willingness to be silly on stage, and their ability to challenge themselves and push themselves outside of their comfort zone for our plays. They truly come alive in front of an audience!

My Project

This is the first year our drama program will have a real stage on which to perform! As such, we have a large expense of set pieces, props, and costumes for our spring production of Peter Pan. The after school drama program is the only extra-curricular that is 100% no cost to families, and your donation will help to make sure it stays that way!

The drama club serves students from every social and academic background, and we need your help to bring Peter Pan to life!

The students will use the costumes and set pieces to put on two fully staged productions of Peter Pan (one for the entire student body, and one for our community). These costumes and set pieces will help the students with their character understanding/development and the set pieces will help them with their understanding of story sequence and performance. Through theater, students will grow in confidence, public speaking, and literacy comprehension.
