Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
My students are on the fast track to accomplishing some amazing learning goals.
I teach at an amazing elementary school that focuses on creating a collaborative learning community and the development of socially, academically, and emotionally balanced students; so they can grow into healthy, balanced, and integrity filled young adults. We celebrate curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking and reasoning skills to develop 21st century skills inside of our project based/personalized learning models.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners!
My Project
I will have more students next year. Having an inviting space where students can learn with the right materials is the foundation of a great learning space. These materials will help me prepare for my students' needs with providing organization within our classroom library. The current bookshelves in my classroom are heavy and falling apart from previous years.
I am also asking for lamps to light the way to learning.
Our older kids thrive in a space they feel comfortable in and create small groups for differentiated learning and project based learning projects. In my opinion, older kids thrive in a space that has been customized to a cozy, comfortable, friendly, choice filled environment. These travel touch lamps will help us continue to give the older learning kids the space they desire, throughout our day in our different content areas.
We are looking to revamp and freshen our space with new bookshelves for independent reaching and lounging with flexible seating choices around the room.
Student choice and voice is essentials to the foundations of a welcoming, warm, inviting classroom.
