My students are always looking for ways to improve and prepare for their future. One way we do that is through sharing our writing and public speaking. They have very diverse backgrounds and different life experiences, and sharing them with the class helps to give their experiences a voice. My students vary in cultures, races, socioeconomic status, and family makeup. But all of them have a story that needs to be heard by others in the classroom and throughout the school.
This classroom stage will provide my students with a distinct area to share their writing pieces, give presentations, and make their voice heard. I believe that learning to speak to an audience is a valuable life skill that they need, and it’s never too early to learn it! By participating in frequent presentation on stage they will grow their confidence.
Having a stage will also help with student engagement because they will be excited to step on stage, use the microphone, and share what they’ve learned.
The stage will also be a great addition to my teaching because it will allow me to move and see more students, as well as being a new area for students to present!
