Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are all special needs students who attend a Title I, low income school, in a self-contained special education classroom. They are five to seven years old and are academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically behind their same age peers.
Most of my students receive services for gross and fine motor skills and speech outside the classroom and receive extra support in the classroom for social, emotional, life, and academic skills.
I also have many students with diagnoses of ADHD which makes focusing during the day difficult!
They are exposed to curriculum at a slower pace than their same age peers and still struggle at times to learn; however, despite their struggles, they never give up!
My Project
These tablets will give my students access to technology, which is a great reinforcer that is also still academic at the same time! My students work hard to earn time with technology. Currently, we have several Leap Frog learning laptops, but my students crave regular access to more advanced technology.
Due to their special abilities many of my students struggle to work the computer independently and these tablets not only give them access to technology but teach them to use technology they will be expected to know how to use in life.
Amazon Fire tablets specifically have many free learning applications available in the Amazon Underground store which make these tablets ready to be utilized as soon as we get them!
