Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has over 350 students and we have such a wonderful school environment. We are a very low income school district and the students are beyond excited to get some of the opportunities our school provides. As with an unfortunate number of schools across the country, the physical education department is not at the top of many people's priority list. We must look to unique ways to acquire those items.
My students are eager, have lots of energy, and need opportunities to grow and learn in a fun and healthy environment.
They can take the knowledge they gain at school, and take it home to inspire their families to get up and move.
My Project
The badminton equipment (racquets & shuttlecocks) will benefit all students at our school. Most of our students have never been exposed to badminton coming from the inner city and the equipment I have requested will introduce children to a sport they have never played. All students should have the opportunity to participate in an activity regardless of their socioeconomic status. This project will provide them with this opportunity.
Each new skill or game our students learn, provides them with another opportunity to find a physical activity that they enjoy and continue beyond school days.
Students should also be able to hear instructions when they are outside, which is why the megaphone is so important. Students will be able to hear regardless of where they are standing outside. The cones will be used to set boundaries for the badminton courts.
All students should have the opportunity to participate in an activity regardless of their socioeconomic status. This project will provide them with this opportunity. Lifetime of fitness is the goal of our program and badminton is a great opportunity to reach that goal.
