Help me give my students the resources to do hands-on science experiments. Between the microscope and owl pellet kits, my students will be begging to participate.
Fifth grade is a special year! Students are extremely inquisitive and developing their own unique perspective of the world around them. It is fun to challenge them to think independently, to tackle problems they've never encountered before, and to encourage them to persevere, even when tasks are difficult.
I strive to create an atmosphere where they can let down their defenses and flourish, developing self confidence and nourishing creativity and common sense.
It's a honor to be their teacher and prepare them for the middle school years.
My Project
All of the materials in this project will contribute to hands-on scientific learning. There are STEM activities, dissection kits, and labs - even a microscope. This will lead to some seriously, STEMulating Science lessons.
Students can learn from doing - NOT just by reading about it in a book and looking at pictures.
The new NGSS science standards have come out, but most school districts don't have adopted materials to meet these standards. Teachers are scrambling to come up with engaging activities that address these standards.
The materials in this project will be utilized to bring science to life. It is so much easier to learn by doing, by experiencing.
