My students need Chromebooks to bridge the gaps in learning, especially for my ENL students. Chromebooks will allow for the
translation of information on the STEM Building matter project.
Our high need demographic implies that technology should be available to all students. Chromebooks will create equity amongst my students! Diversity in my classroom also encompasses the varying educational backgrounds and experiences that the children bring to the classroom. Many of my students are unfamiliar with the technology that can be used in today's classroom setting. Encouraging those students who are proficient in the use of technology to teach those that are less proficient allows for the development of character education and collaboration. There is a high demand for the limited technology within my building. Through your donation, it is my wish to be able to bring Chromebooks to my classroom. This would provide the students with immediate access to the necessary technology. For example, the much needed Chromebooks will assist the children with researching STEM projects, which is part of our Makerspace Program.
My Project
Student participation in science activities is vital to their success in understanding the scientific method and scientific processes. By trial and error, we currently use my cell phone to help translate the information. My children thought that it would be a great opportunity to communicate using 21st-century technology. And the idea of Chromebooks was born! Chromebooks would allow my ENL children to have access to Google translate, which will permit them to become an integral part of the classroom. They will also develop the skill of collaboration when paired with Chromebook to discover solutions to STEM Projects. One such project will involve a K’Nex Education STEM Building Solution Project: Exploring Wind and Water Energy. In this project, the children will develop an understanding of the main states of matter.
