Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our enhanced classroom library will keep us immersed in reading! Most of the students in our class do not have access to current literature at home. In order for our kids to compete in the 21st century, they must be surrounded by a variety books to read.
I teach 22 fifth graders in all subject areas at a Title One school.
Our school serves a large population of high-need students and our class includes special needs children as well as English Language Learners. Despite the daily obstacles that our children face, they are incredibly resilient and hungry for knowledge. We embrace challenges. Our kids are driven to improve themselves and our world.
My Project
We are in need of a variety of series books to expand our classroom library and capture the interests of our students. These books will attract students to explore new books and genres and keep them excited about reading as they anticipate the next book in the series. The books will be sorted and labeled in bins to make them accessible for the students. Our classroom library plays a vital role in making sure that students ALWAYS have a book to read. Students are also allowed to borrow books from the library to read at home. This is perfect for the children who do not have personal books to read or access to a public library.
Your contribution will greatly enhance the educational opportunity for students that are at a disadvantage due to economical circumstances.
It is critical for our kids to gain skills necessary to compete in the 21st century! These books will ensure that our children are surrounded by a literature-rich environment and an organized library will allow students to access the books that spark their interests.
