Since we have to work in a virtual world being able to successfully teach my students while keeping track of them has become an everyday challenge. In a world of Zoom you can either see them or share a screen to teach both is not an easily navigated option. Tiny human faces on a screen are so hard to connect with.
The world that my students knew in the past has drastically changed this year and forming the connections and bonds that you normally can make face to face must now be virtual.
In order for this to happen I need to be able to clearly see all of my students and easily teach them from a distance without interrupting their new normal.
We are a very diverse school. We are located just outside of a joint military base. We serve a high number of students who have parents in the military. My students come from a low economic status to begin with and with the onset of the pandemic they have been hit extra hard. The ultimate goal is to learn and be successful and I don't want anything to be a barrier to that success.
My Project
When you are teaching in a virtual world you need to be able to multitask. In order to do this effectively you need to have a second screen to view your students and teach from. Not to mention the fact when you are looking at pages of 25 students roughly 1.5" square you can't really read their work.
In order to effectively teach my students I need to be able to see them especially when I am screen sharing during a lesson.
This is why I need the Sceptre monitor and the necessary cords to connect it to my laptop. I need to be able to see the students in a larger scale when I am demonstrating or working through a problem. With the dual monitor I can better see the work that they show me and monitor for non verbal cues that they need extra support. The wireless mouse will allow for ease of movement between the screen and my laptop.
In the ever changing world that we are living in I want to being normal to the virtual world. The ability to make something normal and consistent is what puts the students more at ease and allows them to learn better. Being able to seem them on a larger scale is vital to being able to really "see" them and understand what they need and how best to help them.
