Help me give my students snacks to get through the day and provide sensory input. Our students often seek sensory input through food or fidgets, or through weight with the weighted green frog.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love coming to school. They love the stability, the structure, and the adventures we have daily. They work hard to learn to control their behaviors and self regulate in the midst of a crisis. This is what makes us unique.
These students are the reason I come to work every day.
We are an intensive instruction program serving all the elementary schools in the district. We provide ways of teaching how to self regulate, use social skills, and social cues to navigate throughout our day. The main goal is to return to the general education classroom independently and then return to their neighborhood school. The daily challenges these students face make those that we face daily look easy.
My Project
With the option of food as a reinforcement for trying new things, or completing multiple tasks, students are able to focus on the task at hand. They love working for food as a special treat. It helps keep them focused and full throughout the day.
Sensory input is extremely important to our students and using weighted animals, fidgets, and food is a fantastic way to reach many sensory systems.
Weighted animals provide the weight a students needs to help them find their space and place while giving them a fun new friend to hold.
