My Students

I am a 3rd grade teacher at a Title I school in Norfolk, VA.

Our students live in an urban city and come from many different economic backgrounds.

Our classrooms consist of ELL students, gifted students and students with disabilities. We have students of mixed religions and many different races.

My Project

Half of my students qualify for special education services under various categories, including, Autism, Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities & Other Health Impairments.

My students teach me the importance of staying calm under pressure and doing the best you can with what you have.

A variety of quiet, sensory items would provide positive choices for students to figure out what works best for them. I want to support my students as they discover self-awareness for their specific learning needs.

Students learn in different ways and require unique tools to meet their needs.
