Help me give my students several sensory tools like a weighted green frog, rainbow liquid sensory viewers, and other sensory fidgets they can use throughout the day.
I am a second-grade teacher in a small town with about 95 percent of the population being Native American. My students and their families qualify for free and reduced lunches. Despite all their daily obstacles they are resilient and strive for any learning opportunity. My students are very hands-on and love to dive right into new and engaging projects.
My students are enthusiastic, creative, and are motivated to explore daily, academic challenges.
I try to expose them to the world around them by introducing them to many classroom projects that allow them to think outside the box. I have purchased many supplies for my students and classroom that encourage them to think outside the box. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My Project
Sensory tools or sometimes called, fidget tools, are designed for self-regulation. They come in a variety of formats and have been shown to help students focus, relax, and maintain attention to classroom instruction. They also have been shown to help students with anxiety. The weighted green frog will be used to calm and soothe. The Rainbow Liquid Sensory Viewers will captivate and soothe. The other sensory tools will assist my students to relax and release tension.
Sensory tools would be a great addition to our classroom because they can help my students regroup.
I have a calm down space where my students can go to if they are frustrated with a skill or task to take a short break. Although some people think fidgets are toys my students understand that fidgets are not to interfere with their ability to learn or complete tasks.
