My Students

The students in my classroom are special education students in a self contained classroom. The word special means different things to different people. As the teacher, special means Smart, Perfect, Extraordinary, Creative, Inspirational, Adventurous , and Loving.

The students need an alternate curriculum, teaching techniques, sensory diets, therapies, and lots of patience.

Special Education students are just kids who learn in different and unique ways. They are the reason a special education teacher loves to come to work each day.

My Project

Students in the classroom have multiple sensory issues including proprioceptive, tactile, visual auditory, vestibular, gustatory, and/or oral motor. A sensory diet is a sensory plan to treat kids with sensory processing issues. It can include physical activities such as body socks, pushing heavy items, jumping on trampoline, etc.

The students will use the Body Socks for sensory time individually or in a group setting to reduce anxiety, stress, and behaviors.

The body socks will allow the students a physical activity in which to be used within the classroom. The body socks are easily stored and used within a classroom of students.
