My Students

I teach special education, grades K to 3. My students are mostly non-verbal and have varying disabilities.

I want to create an environment for them that is cheerful, colorful, and make them feel at home.

I want to set them up for success by giving them materials that are specially designed for children with unique abilities. My special education students are the most amazing kiddos and I want them to have the very best school environment that I could possibly give them.

My Project

My students love to explore! Sensory tables will help them really interact with their environment. I want to make one a water table because they love to splash. The other one will be a table that we can add different materials to for them to get their little hands on! These sensory tables will be a wonderful incentive for all the hard work they do. If they are feeling overwhelmed, sometimes a trip to the sensory table will help to calm them. We live in an electronic age and technology is great, but imaginative play is so much more valuable. These tables will also be a wonderful way for them to learn how to interact with each other in positive ways.
